17-06-2009: Energy efficiency at LDM

LDM uses as much electricity in a year as an average family in 6000 years. And the amount of gas used by LDM would heat that same family’s home for a good 400 years.
That situation is set to change drastically during the next few years.

High energy prices, climate change and governmental regulation have prompted LDM to aim for substantial energy savings. Added to that is the fact that many people, both within and outside of LDM, believe that things can and should be done better and more sparingly. Also, as an MJA-3 company LDM is setting out to be and remain a forerunner in the field of energy efficiency.
It will be clear that this is no easy task. One of LDM’s energy coordinators, Henri Ahsmann, has recently drawn up a detailed list of more than 180 ways of saving energy. “The list was drawn up in close consultation with all those involved”, says Ahsmann. “Gaining support and gathering as much information as possible are crucial to this type of project”. The ideas and insights have since been translated into an Energy Efficiency Plan (EEP). The EEP includes the 46 most valuable measures to achieve energy efficiency and sustainability. “This plan now forms the basis of our energy reduction strategy for the years to come”, confirms Ahsmann.
