01-01-2008: LDM places Radiation detection gate

Our raw materials consist of scrap metal which is sourced from around the world. In a scarce market it is not unthinkable that materials could come onto the market which should not really be there.

Radiation Detection Gate

LDM’s raw materials consist of scrap metal which is sourced from around the world. In a scarce market it is not unthinkable that materials could come onto the market which should not really be there. (Think of the dangers of dismantling the former Soviet Union’s nuclear submarines, whereby the scrap metal enters the world market.)
Our raw materials suppliers are obliged to check materials for sources of radioactivity.

In order to offer extra protection against the consequences of radioactive contamination of our plant or - even worse - our customers' plants, LDM has therefore opted to carry out its own checks using a detection gate.

An active monitoring system ensures that contaminated materials are not processed.
Despite the very low risk of such a situation arising, we consider this investment to be very important, and also an opportunity to emphasise our environmental awareness and concern for the welfare of our employees and customers.
